Here are some of the Must Read Adventure Books:
1) Jurassic Park (Jurassic
Park, #1) by Michael Crichton
The famous Jurassic Park is set in a hypothetical world where the DNA of the dinosaurs is being engineered and cloned to bring them back to life again.
Released way back in 1990 and written by the famous novelist Michael Crichton, the story revolves around a park where the Dinosaurs are brought back into existence. Jurassic Park is set in a nature reserve on a remote South American Island owned by billionaire businessman John Hammond. Hammond and his team of research scientists have popularized the park with genetically engineered dinosaurs.
It is also seen as a cautionary tale about Genetic Engineering, and for some others, it is also seen as the real-world implication of the mathematical concept of the popular Chaos Theory.
Jurassic Park was made into a film in 1993
with the same name directed by Steven Spielberg. The film was a big hit,
becoming the highest-grossing film ever at the time, impressing audiences all
over the world with its excellent story and, of course, dinosaurs.
1) A Journey to the Center of
the Earth
If you are a Jules Verne fan, this book is a must-read for you. Even if you are not a Verne fan, I am sure this book will turn you into one.
An adventurous geology professor chances
upon a manuscript in which a 16th-century explorer claims to have found a route
to the earth's core. Professor Otto Lidenbrock, an eccentric German scientist
believes that there are volcanic tubes that connect to the centre of the Earth.
When he finds the manuscript, the scientist can't resist the opportunity to
investigate, and with his nephew Axel, he sets off across Iceland in the
company of Hans Bjelke, a native guide.
The adventure goes into a volcano, where
they encounter a subterranean world of bright rocks, prehistoric forests, and
fantastic marine life - a living past that holds the secrets to the origins of
human existence.
Originally published in French in 1864, the first English translation of this classic of adventure and science fiction was published in 1871. It will not be ironic to say that, Verne essentially laid the groundwork and birthed the genre of Science Fiction.
